Section 53 of the Pakistan Penal Code describe following punishments to which the criminals are liable:
- Qisas,
- Diyat,
- Arsh,
- Daman,
- Ta’zir,
- Death Sentence,
- Imprisonment for life, rigorous and simple Imprisonment,
- Forfeiture of property, and
- Fine
Pakistan Penal Code also provides substitution of greater sentences by lesser punishment on approval of the Provincial or Federal Government whosoever has the authority and the jurisdiction. However, this exception is not applicable on punishment of Qatl.
